Current Programme

This is a draft programme, some of the later events may change. Definite activities are in BOLD. Check the Home Page for latest news. Meetings are usually 8pm to 10pm. Explorer Nights are planned and run by the Explorers, Leaders Nights planned by the Leaders. An "outdoor night" means wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear. In the Winter, bring a torch.

Some camps not scheduled : Whitby Youth Hostel weekend - likely to be in October. Dalby Forest camp - anytime November through February. Hag Dyke - January.

Some activities not scheduled : Wet 'n Wild - 2nd weekend December, Alton Towers, Overnight Hike, Inferno, Go-karting, Pimp my Ride

To say farewell to those off to University and other places. Fancy Dress - please come dressed as "What I want to be when I grow up". Please bring any photos, video etc of past events, especialy the expedition to Slovenija.

Thurs Oct 1st - Pimp my Snack
The aim is to produce the most interesting, extravagent snack or sweet. In teams. Obviously the snack must be edible as we shall eat it.
Weekend 2nd - 4th October - Group Camp, Wike campsite.
Monday Oct 5th - Newsletter Disribution
Remember to come straight from School and be at the Scout HQ by 3-45 pm. Finish about 5-30pm.
Thurs Oct 8th - Explorer Meeting
Newsletter distribution - please be there at 6-30 pm. For the meeting - please bring a knife.
Sunday 11th October - Bramham Park Fun Run - 5 or 10k Race.
Why not take part in this event ?. A fine off-road course in the Park. In aid of Breast Cancer Awareness. 10-30 am. £3.50 for under 16's, £7 for over 16's if you register before the day. If you don't want to run but can help, we will ask the organisers what you can do. No t-shirts and Gartorade though.

Sat/Sunday 18th/19th December - District Explorer Christmas Party - Wike Campsite
The idea is arrive 16:00 hours on the Saturday, party till late, camp the rest of the night, leave after break>fast Sunday morning. (No alcohol.) Units share responsibility for food.

Week before Easter 2010, Outdoor Activities Camp, Kielder.
A similar camp to this year's event at Great Tower in the Lakes: water activities, off-road cycling (some good routes according to Sam), walking, fires, chilling ...

Weekend 14-16 May - Nights Away Training Course (for leaders) to be held at Aldwark has now been confirmed. This is the only local course in 2010.


Sunday 4th July - Leeds 10K Race helping or running If you are 15+ you can run in this charity event (10k = 6 miles). Otherwise we help with the marshalling - possibility of a t-shirt and huge amounts of Gartorade.

July 2011 - 22nd International Scout Jamboree, Sweden
You can now apply to take part either as Explorer Scouts or as leaders. More information at the county web site. The unit leader will be Paul Scurrah who runs the Fitzwardian Explorer Unit in Wetherby.
