Some basic facts about our Scout Troop :
- Scouts are boys or girls aged from 10½ years to 14 years, , when they can move to the Explorers. Subscriptions are £22 per 4-month term.
- Weekly meetings are held throughout the year on Friday evenings.
- Outdoor Activities are us. Every month there will be a camp, or a winter hostel weekend, or a journey etc. involving activities such as off-road cycling, canoeing, and hill walking. A Summer Camp is held every year, often at some far flung destination.
- Scouts try to help others as much as possible and to serve their local community.
Scout Training :
- Scouts work for, and pass Awards for which they receive Badges*
- Our Programme covers a wide range of skills and activities (look in the column on the left). It aims to teach the Scouts self-reliance, an understanding of the natural world, faith and how to make a contribution to the community.
Leadership :
- The troop comprises Patrols of 5 to 8 Scouts. An older Scout in the Patrol acts as their Leader.
- Scouts play an active part in running the Scout Troop. The Troop Programme is chosen by the older scouts after discussion with the Scouts and the Leaders.
- Leadership skills are a key part of Scout training.
Adult leaders
- Leaders supervise the activities to ensure the Scouts are suitably trained and the activities are safe. Currently we have 3 leaders and a group of helpers for specific activities. We can always do with more help.
